If you've read my previous posts, you'll know that my journey into the subconscious and the mind-body connection started from a young age.
I really think it came from Metal craze of the 70's & 80's. Groups like Motley Crue, Black Sabbath, KISS, Judas Priest, Quiet Riot cracked into mainstream discussions and parents were concerned that Metal was "satanic" and (certain groups played into that concept) and they were sending out secret messages via "backwards masking." For those that are not familiar:
"Backmasking is a recording technique in which a sound or message is recorded backward onto a track that is meant to be played forward. Backmasking is a deliberate process, whereas a message found through phonetic reversal may be unintentional." - wikipedia
So pop culture was all in a crazy in the music industry and of at a young age, I heard of it well... the rest is history. I learned that the "devil will enter you subconscious if you listen records metal records" and so the idea of the subconscious became real to me.
Fast forward to the new century and the explosion of the internet, Information age, and I could now research some of this stuff that I was reading about. Up until that time I only had books to read and the only book I had on hand that talked about the mind was...The Bible.
"Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds..." - Romans 12:2
So I knew that God wanted to renew our mind, but I wasn't really sure of the mind connection and how that worked. But I believed and as the modern science now supports that our minds take in everything. It is a supercomputer that takes in every single thing you put before you senses. Most of that is stored in the subconscious.
As I moved into my adolescent years, the idea of "the mind" was put on hold for other things...but shortly after my interest in the mind-body connection would reawaken...
